What can I say about Will?! We met in Auburn at Foothills Bowl. He used to live in Arizona and he’d come to Auburn for the Summer. He thought he was a pretty good bowler and that was enough reason for me to want him to fail. He proceeded to move here and start bowling with the Sacramento bowlers like Casey Ryan, Mike Flynn and that furthered my dissapointment in Will. Eventually I moved to Sacramento and our friendship grew, we had a couple classes together at Sac State and we were on the bowling team together for a year. When the Sac State Bowling team broke up Will and I moved to Fresno to bowl there. We lived together for two unforgettable years. He’s the closest thing I have to a brother. Today he lives in Madera, CA with his wife Lisa and his son William. I am really looking forward to seeing him more often.
Mason is going to be my future brother-in-law and in all honesty we haven’t hung out too much in the past fiveish years outside of family functions but when we have I have really had a great time. More recently, we’ve been hanging out regularly on Thursday Nights at the Owl Club and it’s been cool getting to know Mason as someone more than just Morgan’s Brother. I have to say he is quite the handyman too, our closets are great now, and we have a beer pong table courtesy of Mason! Mason currently lives in Roseville with Jerusha and his two beautiful children Averiana and Asher.
I met Kevin at the Gold Bowl (the best bowling alley on earth), I believe his grandma Olive (R.I.P.) signed him up for a Junior League. We bowled junior leagues together for a few years and kept score on Thursday Nights for a Women’s League for extra money. We attended Nevada Union High School together, he was one year behind me. One lunch hour Kevin spit some Orange Juice out of my ‘76 Cadillac Seville window while going around a corner and I hit a parked big rig trailer. That is classic Kevin, he is the funniest guy I know. When Kevin moved back to Sacramento from Arizona it was an easy choice to have him move in with me in 2003. We lived together for about a year and we had some great times! Kevin currently lives in San Leandro.
When I first met Ethan I did not get his humor at all and he rubbed me the wrong way. However, I soon came to realize that we have a similar sense of humor, shocking! Ethan has been married to Mel for two and a half years now and I wasn’t originally asked to be in his wedding party. I later was after his Best Man stepped down. Oh how things change in a short amount of time. Now Ethan and I hang out multiple times a week whether it be at the gym, movie night, pint night, game night, whatever. It’s great for me to have a friend who impacts me and doesn’t let me settle for mediocracy, I’ll be proud to have Ethan as a brother-in-law. Ethan lives in Roseville with his wife Melanee.
Mel and I met in High School when my Dad and her Mom started dating. We hit it off pretty quickly chatting about boys, singing songs in the apple orchard, making home made cassette tapes and late night talks in the Sugar Shack (I miss that place!). I think that we have become closer over the last few years and I am so blessed to have her in my life and living close enough to hang out with on a regular basis. Mel lives in Roseville with her husband Ethan.
Megan is the friend I have known the longest — 20 years to be exact! We met when my family moved in across the street from hers. I saw her playing outside with her sisters and a neighbor and decided I should go introduce myself and make some friends. We were inseparable from 4th grade through high school through making bracelets and other things to try and sell in front of the house, to week long sleep-overs, clubs, sports, boys, etc… While we attended different colleges we have always kept in touch — hanging out when home from school.
Megan lives in Roseville.
Daisha is two years younger than me and we met in high school when she came to Woodcreek as a freshman. She was considering going to a different school with a better basketball program and the varsity coach came to me and said, “Look. There is a girl coming to open gym tonight and I need you to be nice to her. Make her want to come here. She is good!” And as it turned out, how could I not want her there! Daisha is so much fun, outgoing, and hilarious! We had two great years of being basketball/band nerds together. She is the one person that could ALWAYS pick me up if I was feeling down and was the hardest person to leave when I went off to college. I am so very thankful that we have kept in touch throughout the years! “I believe I can fly!”
Daisha currently lives in the Bay Area.
JJ came to Sonoma State as one of the “freshies”. I LOVED her immediately. JJ is super fun, with a quick wit, and a contagious laugh. I felt close to JJ right away knowing I could trust her with anything — including all my secrets! I loved all the time I was able to spend with her while I was at Sonoma, especially winter sessions when a bunch of the girls would stay at the Mandolin Way house. But it is the time since moving back to Roseville that I have gotten closer to her. JJ has really been there for me over the last 3 years each and every time I have needed her — whether it was letting me share her bed, visiting me in Roseville, or taking me out for girl’s night and drinks. JJ lives in San Ramon.
I first met Jana when I was a freshman at Sonoma State and she was a High School Senior. She came to stay with me in the dorms for her recruiting trip. We hit it off immediately to say the least! It was the first of MANY times for creating some mischief and I know there is still plenty more to be had! Like JJ, my friendship with Jana has really grown over the last few years. While she isn’t the best at returning calls she always seems to know when to reach out and say hello and has always been there when I needed to chat or hang out. Her bed isn’t quite as comfy as JJ’s, but is still always a good time! Jana lives in San Ramon.
