Today Ethan and I traveled to Folsom Brewmeister to purchase a few supplies to add to the few that I already had in order for us to attempt to brew our first batch of beer. Morgan bought me a starter kit probably 2.5 years ago and I’m going to finally get off my fears of screwing it up and brew at home. I started reading my book today to prepare for Saturday. At noon Ethan, Morgan and I (maybe more) are going to make Cervesa Bueno, a light Mexican style beer. In a couple of weeks it will be bottled for consumption. I’ll update as the process unfolds!
Filed under: Beer Tags: Beer, Folsom Brewmeister, Home BrewThis morning I headed up to Auburn for Pama’s Birthday. I left early so that I could have breakfast with Ethan and Mel. Mel chose to go to Katrina’s Cafè, I had been to Katrina’s in the past but I didn’t remember it being so good! I had the Chicken Chipotle Omelette and it was the best I’ve ever had, I will definitely be going back soon.
Following breakfast Mel and I went to BevMo to pick up a new keg, I went with Rubicon Brewing Company’s IPA, we will be tapping it tonight and playing some Beer Pong on the table that Mason built for us. Eventually we had some Old Town Pizza at the Old Town Dessert Cafè while Pama opened up various cards and gifts.
Before returning home Mel and I stopped in the Auburn Alehouse to get a drink, I went with the Isotope PU240 DIPA, yum! Now I have to tidy up the house in case someone actually shows up tonight.

The “pint of the night” is Russian River’s Pliny the Elder Double IPA, if you can’t make it there tonight I definitely recommend going to Whole Foods and picking up a bottle for yourself. I tried a bottle of it last night and it was hoppy delicious!

Amidst the planning he realized that there are no pictures on the website from the 11th Annual Boonville Beer Fest (because Morgan didn’t attend). So, those have now been posted on the website here. If you’re interested, you can also see pictures that Will and Lisa snapped during the weekend here.
